Stephenie Meyer and I Rock the House

I was pleasantly surprised to notice last week that Stephenie Meyer--author of the Twilight vampire books--and I are paired in Amazon's "better together" system. Observe:

I have a few conspiracy theories about how this came to be, but I must admit, I'm not really complaining about Vampire Academy being Eclipse's new BFF. Eclipse, just for those who keep track of such things, is currently #2 on Amazon's sales list, right after the latest Harry Potter (which, also for those who keep track, I finally finished last week).

Of course, further examination reveals that like any set of best friends, there's always the prettier, more popular one who gets all the guys. And yeah, that would be Stephenie because when I scrolled down, I saw that 50% of those who view VA still buy Eclipse instead. Then, further examination revealed the following:

Yeah, you like that? Did you want it like that? That's right: if you look at Vampire Academy, you will then go on to either buy one of my books or Stephenie's. You have no choice. We're totally dominating those poor suckers who stumbled onto VA's page.

Of course, I must now ask you not to look at the Eclipse page because the reverse phenomenon is not true, and I will lose coolness in your eyes. Damn it, Stephenie! How come you always get asked to the dance first?

And hey! Speaking of Vampire Academy (release date is Thursday, kids), I give you its first official review here.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm one of the people who looked at your page and didn't buy your book. Because I want it on release day, not the following week. But I keep forgetting when that is, so I look it up...

Thursday's the day! And thanks so much...I really appreciate it and hope you like the book. First week/opening day sales are always the best for some sort of stat thing they do. :)

Woo! Looking forward to seeing it out in stores. :>

Hmm. That reminds me, I never did receive that copy of VA you promised me back in May. Totally slipped my mind. :>

Gah! You're right. It happened right at the time I separated from my husband and moved out of the house...ack. I'm sorry. I'm pretty sure it's even packaged and addressed somewhere--along with something I never sent to my mom. :( Be patient with me here, and I'll try to dig it out. SO sorry!

Because I could not buy Vampire Academy in the local bookstore last Friday I settled for Storm Front. This was my first experience with Butcher and while it was fine, I was a bit disappointed. I much prefer your work. As you said, now that I've seen the box above I have no choice. Good news is, Thursday is payday, so you'll be getting some of my money very soon. :)

Aw, thanks. I really appreciate that! I hope you like it. Storm Front's interesting...some people love it; some are so-so but feel like it sets the pace for the rest of the series, which they feel gets better.

Who's on your icon? I know I've seen him, and it's driving me crazy.

The icon? John Corbett playing Chris Stevens on Northern Exposure.

Hey! Great review! As for the release, may you ride the Meyer wave.

Thanks. We'll see what happens. I know that's what my publisher wants. It's funny: I certainly want the book to do well, but it doesn't have the place SB has in my heart. It would be ironic if VA's the one that becomes the blockbuster.

Wow. This feels much like the demonic-eyes moment from Kat's party (raises wallet; pulls out debit card; purchases 14 copies of Richelle's books)

Hmm. I feel like a strange compulsion has just come over me, then passed; and for some reason I CAN'T WAIT to check my mailbox the next few days...

Hmm...

Noo, did you really? Aw, now I feel kind of bad! :) But hopefully, if you love the book, it'll be worth it! Thanks so much.

Just ordered it!
Hey, Chelle...I just went down to the local B&N and ordered Vampire Academy from there...I just hope they truly have it in by Thursday like they say so I can bring it with me on Friday...well, we'll see.

I just finished Eclipse and it was a great read. I'm headed book shopping on Thrusday... Vampire Academy is at the top of my list. :))
