Let's make a deal

Update: please read this post if you're thinking of voting hundreds of times! I'm grateful for the support, but voting once a day is more than enough. Thanks!

So, I mentioned before that Spirit Bound was nominated in the best teen book of 2010 category in the Children's Book Council Awards. This is a huge honor, and voting runs through the end of this month. The thing is, I hate constantly asking people to vote...especially after everyone worked so hard voting in the Nickelodeon Awards last month. So, I haven't been pushing this a lot.

However, since December, I've been asked constantly to write about what happens when Dimitri goes back to visit his family in Russia. I've been undecided about whether I wanted to do this or not. I do have to write a short story for an upcoming anthology, which isn't something I do very often. I've been going back and forth on what to write the story about, but here's the deal I'll make you: if Spirit Bound wins in the CBCAs, I'll write this anthology story about Dimitri and Rose going to visit his family in Russia.

Now, normally, I don't like it when authors offer bribes. But, with all the requests I've gotten, I like to think of this as more of a trade. Plus, I know some people would vote but just forget...so hopefully, this is a good reminder! And I can say with absolute truth, if you think another of the nominees is a better choice, then please: vote for them instead. Awards are no good if they don't reflect how people really feel! But, if you were already for SB, then hopefully the story incentive will help us pull off a win. Can we do it with only a few days left? Stay tuned to find out! The link to vote is here, and it's under the teen category (but you don't have to be a teen to vote).

Win, lose, whatever...I'm always grateful and awed by the support you guys show for the series. You all rock, and I am very, very lucky. Thank you!

Hello -

I monitor votes as they come in for the Children’s Choice Book Awards. We are so excited about all of your voting enthusiasm, but when people submit thousands of fake votes, we are forced to delete them and it makes it hard for us to tell how many kids are actually voting. If you really want to support Richelle, submit a real ballot so that it will count!

I have voted!
I know a few people okay over 100 people who loves VA series. and those 100+ people know people more than me. So, I posted(FB & other sites) and promoted for people to visit your blog or the voting site to vote for SB as the teen book of 2010 for the CBC award. I hope you do win because really, it was too soon to let Dimitri & Rose's story go.

Good Luck!

We love you!

OMG I wanted to read abotu his family so much. I really missed thsi scene in the last book. I hoped that when they break Rose out of prison, they'll go to Russia. So I'll be really happy to read about it. And please even if you don't win - because even with all the votes- no one knows what will happen- please write about Rose adn Dimitri in Russia - your fans will be really gratefull.

Of course i'll vote for it, Vampire Academy is my favorite book series EVER. [Not counting HP..] I love how you write and the story is beyond amazing.
I am SURE Spirit Bound will win, and i am so so so excited for the story! Finishing reading the VA books was both beautiful, because it was totally amazing, but also sad because it was over. So knowing there could be a mini-spin-off with Rose and Dimitri is exciting.
And i can't wait for Bloodlines, either. I'll miss Rose, but i like Sydney's character and i'm looking forward to read about it, also because they're very different, and there will probably be a totally different point of view.
You're a true inspiration, and i wanted you to know that.
I love writing, too, and i hope someday i'll become at least half good as you.

when you say "Win, lose, whatever..." do you mean that you will write this story even if you don't win? ;)
More seriously,i was wondering: even if you don't like to offer bribes (which i totally understand) have you ever considered writing the story of Janine & Abe ?

Anyway, i keep voting for SB which deserves to win ;)

That's good to know on the age thing. I thought about cutting my age in half because I wasn't sure it would be counted if it was an older vote. :-)
