Grace and Mei
Many thanks to the kind Twitter follower who tipped me off and got me this picture.

Yes, it appears someone working stock in the book department at this store didn't quite grasp the subtle meaning of 'self help.' The bonus is that this was apparently taken at a Meijer, the Midwest superstore I miss so much and am always going on about because of their 24-hour access to everything. I guess that accessibility now extends to parents and teen psychologists who will no doubt be flocking here at all hours to stock up on tools of the trade.

Speaking of book categories, I have to correct something I mentioned a couple of days ago. I commented how the succubus series had been accidentally put in the teen section at Borders. Clarification: it was only one Borders that it happened at, and I'm sure it's long been fixed. There was no nationwide problem, I assure you, and Borders folks are always very good to me.

:: Laughs:: Oh man, that's a riot! I'd make a snarky comment about your books being an antidote to less well-written stuff, but I don't want to clutter your blog with my snark.

I think someone at the bookstore was being a smart-ass. I wonder how long it took management to notice?

That's way too funny. I love the random book about food thrown in.

I think the best and most subtle book misfile someone's done to me was to switch all the bios of Lincoln with those of Jefferson Davis. Still, I think that's funnier.

I didn't know vampires could do so much for a teen's self esteem! Wow! At least that Meijer has those books categorized. Ours just kinda slaps them down where ever.

And I'm glad to find a fellow Meijer lover because I'm absolutely obsessed with mine. I sometimes have a thing about going grocery shopping at one in the morning (because I'm up, don't have to take the kids with me, and there's hardly anyone in the store). Just bring my iPod, crank it up and shop away!

:)

Alright. I checked at a local Meijer today for the "Teen Self Help" section, and lo and behold, titles such as "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and Melissa De La Cruz's "Blue Bloods" series has made their homes there.

Those Meijer folks sure are crazy. Maybe I'll ask them why they do that on my next shopping trip.

Can't really make out all the titles, but I don't even think all of those are "teen" books even, let alone self help.

I used to work for Meijer. I think it was more fun to shop there than to be an employee, I am just saying.

Lucky for me, my name is on this VA ad and all I had to do was leave a quote and my name via email. And viola, I was chosen.

I was even more excited seeing it on TV!

<3 So look out for Erin, Brisbane!!

That's me!

<3 Erin.

Hahaha, I was at the Barnes & Noble with my friend yesterday, and I saw a "How To Be a Vampire" book under non-fiction. We had to sit down we were laughing so hard.

Ironically, it made me think of a post of yours similar to this... and now this is here =D Convenient.

I would just kill for a Meijer down here - the closest one is in Indy. Now, do you call it Meijer or Meijers? I, myself, have always added the s to the end. My parents and grandparents still call it Thrifty Acres though.

I live in England (though I'm American... long story) and everyone at my school loves the VA series... we're always reading fanfictions about it... I was wondering if you could come to England on tour sometime. That would be super! I love your books!

Random Comment About Meijer
I am a fan of your work but I had to laugh when I read your comment about Meijer. I'm from Toronto, Canada and accompanied a friend to Michigan this past summer for surgery. I was there for 2 weeks and there was a Meijer down the street from the hotel. Loved it! Probably haunted the place most nights while my friend was in the hospital and I was bored and unable to sleep back at the hotel. Nothing in my part of Canada compares, not even WalMart. Especially fell in love with their book section. Anyway, since I've been home I say God I miss Meijer and my family thinks I'm nuts because I like a store so much! I'm a Canadian and miss it so I can imagine how you must feel after living in MI and moving cross country away from it. Lol (I follow you as Krystean on Twitter)
