At long last, a real post! And not just any post. An action-packed, highly pictorial post. Last night, I had a signing at University Bookstore and an after-party at my place with the lovely Lilith Saintcrow. Lots and lots of pictures were taken, so I'll just skip straight to those and save us any further preamble.
Lilith read an awesome action-packed scene involving babies and dark forces from her Jill Kismet series.

I read a passage about a succubus and illegal substances. So, I think it's safe to say that between us, this was a night of sex, drugs, and rock n' roll.

Afterward, Lilith and I fielded questions from the audience. As you can see from our pensive expressions and mirrored chin-resting, this was not a duty we took lightly.

Once the questions wrapped up, signings commenced, and I faced the problem I always have of trying to think up unique, witty captions. Since I used most of my funny material during the reading, I think I may have let people down here.

Meanwhile, authors Cherie Priest and Mark Henry talked writerly stuff and wondered when the heck that party would start.

Fortunately, it kicked off soon after. I hadn't thought it was possible, but I fit 25 people into my 600 square foot condo. No doubt this was a violation of the fire code.

Oh my God! It was a violation! The fire department showed up.

No, just kidding. The fire trucks showed up for some neighbors across the street who must have been committing a bigger fire violation than us. For whatever reason, Lilith and I were particularly fascinated by it and couldn't tear ourselves away.

And speaking of violations, I think I had an underage fan sneak into the reading. Next time I'm checking IDs.

lolcatz only says one nice thing to me per day. From the looks of it, I must have just gotten my daily dose.

But, once the moment passed, he was back to his old ways, ruining perfectly good pictures.

Good grief, I'm in a lot of pictures here. This is a total ego-fest. Let me close it off by showing my teacherly friends...

My techly friends...

And, well, I had other friends there too, but all this PhotoShop cropping and resizing is making me sleepy. It was a late night! Thanks to everyone--photographed or not--who came to the events. It was a good time, and I appreciate all the support.

I need to read your friends' books, I feel bad. I'm sure they're good. But I hate the fact of leaving Georgina...she's always number one.
Why don't you email me - me@markhenry.us - with your address and I'll get that off to you asap.

Re techy people: One in the middle looks like he just said something philosophical, and the guys on either side think he's hilariously nuts.
Have a lovely day! :-)
Sure to be the funnest!
University Bookstore in Seattle
Barhopping to follow, I have no doubt.
:o)
sorry I missed it but I had to work, plus I have been dealing with moving stuff which keeps me up late in the day (working nights.) Me without sleep = evil. Pure evil. :(
Glad you had fun though!
I'm bummed I'll be missing Norwescon this year. Maybe I can come home for a visit next year. It just seems like every time there's something I REALLY want to do/see at Norwes I'm out of the country.
Good luck at the mega signing, though!

Lilith didn't think she looks good, but she looks awesome!
